it's been a while

I can't believe I haven't posted anything for the month of May. It''s a sign of how busy I've been these past months.

We've been busy making our aquatic-themed cake for our CEFBEX (Cebu Foods and Beverages Exposition) entry. It was tedious work - from kneading fondants to making detailed gumpaste fishes and corals - but we did it. And we're proud to say that o

ur school bagged the gold, for the 7th consecutive year. Aside from the cake decorating competition, our school also got gold for the pasta making live, market basket competition, and another one I forgot (sorry, hihi), plus a silver for the culinary apprentice. Not bad, not bad at all.

It was a great experience. My teammates and I bonded over the long hours, especially during the last few days when we camped at one of the classrooms at the 4th floor. It was tiring, but all our efforts weren't in vain, obviously.

Our cake standing tall and proud amidst our gold medals and certificates.

Aside from our classes, we are also accepting orders (cakes, short orders, buffets) as part of our diploma program. Our school only offers certificate for pastry, but we've been pushing for a diploma, and being a commissary team is part of it, along with a management course. We also conduct workshops on basically everything - cupcake making, cake decorating, etc. Just the basics, for those who are interested but is unwilling to take on the whole 10-month program.

Busy, busy.

However, it's not all work and no play for me, though. Uh-uh.

The boyfriend visited for a few days a couple weeks ago, and we had a blast. We did the usual - went shopping (I did the buying, though), got a massage (I was feeling so stressed so I dragged him into it), ate out, stayed in and cuddled (when it rained so hard).

We also went and toured Bohol for a day. We visited my Mom's BFF, Ate Memie, and she gave us a tour along the island. We went on the Loboc River Cruise, saw the Chocolate Hills, visited the tarsiers, went in the Hinagdanan Cave, and bought small trinkets as souvenirs.

It was certainly a jam-packed day. We came back to Cebu late that night (the boat got delayed for an hour and a half, bugger) tired but happy, albeit a bit grumpy. He went home early the following day.

I miss him. God.

Anyway, I'm graduating this June 22 (yey!) but the doesn't mean my classes are over. Our school has it's commencement exercises once yearly, so those who are about to finish all graduate, so as to not wait for the following year. My classes will end sometime around September.

Only my Mom is attending my graduation (sucks), because my Dad has to stay and watch over our business. I don't mind, though, for I'll be going home at the end of the month, so I'll get to see him then.

Oh, and a shoutout to my Daddy. Advance Happy Father's Day! I love you. <3

love & angry birds

Lex went to Manila last Tuesday with his parents. And even though he came home last Friday, today was the first time we got together since he came back. Yes, we talk every night, and we text each other all day, but still. Feels different when you're not in the same place province city street (yes, we live in the same street, his house is two blocks away from mine), and I missed him dreadfully.

I asked him to get a couple of things for me (Tacloban might be highly urbanized now, but there are things that I can't buy here still, ugh!) and added to those, he gave me something else.

Angry Birds purse, cellphone case, charm ♥

I'm such a sucker for Angry Birds. I love the games, love the birds, love the pigs! =)

Thanks a bunch, Lex. Love you much! ♥

pig slippers and all.

I haven't been blogging lately have been neglecting my blog lately, and I'm sorry, blog. It's just that I've been busy with duties and all. Usually I come home from an 8-hour shift tired and ready to drop. Other times, I hang out with either my Bf, or with friends, that I feel as if I'm physically and mentally drained.

So far, I'm enjoying real bad. I never really expected to actually like being a nurse. I know I would have been a pretty awesome doctor, but I guess life God had other plans for me. Not that I'm complaining. Medicine's a bitch, with the 24- to 36-hour shifts the clerks, interns and residents are putting in. Oh how they envy us nurses when we leave after our 8-hour shifts.

Anyway.. Bf and I had a huge fight over a little thing, which was crazy. But we made up, and if there's one good thing that comes out from fighting, I must say, it's the making up. *And this is the part where I go "awwwwww". =)

I'm keeping my blog short, since I really don't have anything significant to blog about, except for these cute pig slippers that Bf got me. I squeal over pig stuffies, and you can imagine my delight when I saw this at the mall. People were staring, and I was in my uniform, but I didn't care.

The last pair in MY size.
It's destined for me. ♥

Pardon my ugly fat feet. =D

he's just the sweetest ♥

Months ago, I hinted at told my guy that I wanted this Harry Potter charm bracelet for Christmas or my birthday (it was on my wishlist). He figured that it'll be hard to look for a store selling one like it, so he started his searched online. He found one in eBay, I think, but he wasn't inclined to buy it since it was an international listing. I was disappointed, but still I kept badgering him about it.

Any way, as weeks months passed, we both kinda forgot about it, until last Sunday, when I made my wishlist, and when my birthday finally came yesterday. I was texting with him, jokingly asking him if he got me my HP bracelet, but he just flat-out told me that he didn't. It was kinda disappointing, but seeing as how I never really expect gifts during my birthday (what sucks about having December as a birth month is that my birthday gifts are always mixed with my Christmas gifts, so I get one instead of two, boo), I never really minded. Then he told me he picked out something for me, just a teeny-tiny thing, but it sure did put a smile on my face.

Last night, he dropped by our house, and he gave me this small box. As is my habit, I started shaking the box to hear what's supposed to be inside, but strangely I couldn't hear anything. And imagine my surprise when I opened it and found out that there's absolutely nothing inside!

The empty box he handed me. =P

I was groaning from disappointment and was about to give him the verbal lashing I felt he deserved, when I noticed him grinning as he pulled something out from his pocket. I was squealing with glee when he handed me a charm bracelet. Mind you, the book covers weren't as clear as the one I saw on the internet, as mine has this brownish hue (from the varnish, maybe), but I didn't care. I never had plans on wearing them, I just wanted one for myself as a keepsake - sort of like a tribute to the years of adventures with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the others; and for the times when I would mark my calender for the release of the next HP book and/or movie.

For some reason, no matter how many times I tried rotating the picture, it comes out as this.
It's dark, and brownish, and the words aren't all that clear,
but it doesn't matter since the person who gave it to me is special.
And yeah, it's a cliche, but it's always the thought that counts. ♥

catching up on blogging

It's been a while.. And with so many things to blog about, I think I'll just skip to the highlights. So.. My internet still sucks.. Ever since I had our Globelines DSL disconnected way back, I've been demoted to using SmartBro and Globe Tattoo, depending on which one has load. For a girl who got used to unlimited fast internet, this is such a drawback. But our Globelines internet kept having problems, and everytime I called their customer service hotline, they kept telling me they's send a technician over but nobody came. I called several times, they tell me the same thing, nothing happened. I got fed up, went to Globelines to get our line disconnected, and no more DSL the next day.

My Dad's thinking about getting a BayanTel internet connection. He's been talking about it since last last week, and I hope to get it connected today. *fingers crossed*

Anyway.. I've been feeling really, really down these past few days. I miss school, review and Crit.. Because during those days I wake up each day knowing what I'm supposed to do. Now I feel like I'm floating and I can't get my feet to touch the ground. I'm floundering. I'm bored, and I hate being idle. I'm a lot of things right now, things I can't even explain. I've been crying a lot.. And just when I think my tear ducts are all dried out, I cry some more.

Then I've been fighting with the BF more often these days, too. It's like the Universe is out to get me.

So with the way I'm currently feeling, I turn to the number 1 thing that would always cheer me up, no matter what - reading. So far I've read all books I've bought during my 3rd to the last day in Manila. I spent most of my remaining money on these babies. On impulse. Talk about self-control. Apart from these, I also read Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven, Janette Rallison's Just One Wish, Sarah Dessesn's This Lullaby, Rick Riordan's The Red Pyramid, Amanda Howell's The Summer of Skinny Dipping, Courtney Summers' Cracked Up To Be, and Elizabeth Scott's Stealing Heaven on eBook.

And of course, me being the impulsive little shopper that I am, I bought 2 new books from BookSale yesterday when I got stranded at Gaisano Central due to the rain. As I walk home when the rain cleared, I passed by this boutique and saw this bag, and bought it on the spot. Now I really am broke.

Broke but happy =)

On a much more positive note, St. Paul's called and informed me about the Pre-Orientation thingy on October 4. Finally, something to look forward to. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping Bethany would call, too. I don't really like St.Paul's.. I only applied there because my friend Jojo dragged me to it. But I'm willing to settle. =)

I'm also updating my Tumblr more. Follow me? =)

my legs are screaming for mercy

I woke up this morning feeling pretty awesome, since I had a good night's sleep and was able to wake up late (thanks to PNoy's inaguration, which was declared a national holiday, meaning no classes today). It's funny how whether you're an elementary, high school, college or a postgrad student, you still cheer when holidays are announced and your classes for that day are canceled.

I was supposed to go home to Cavite last night, but I opted to stay at the apartment. I like staying at Cavite better - I have my own room, homecooked meals, someone washes my clothes, DSL internet connection. The downside is, whenever we come back to QC, we come early. Meaning I have to drag my ass out of bed at 4 or 5 in the morning, depending on what time we leave - usually around 5 or 5:30 am.

I'm not a morning person, but I don't mind waking up early. It's just that, with a full day ahead, I prefer getting all the sleep I can get. Like last Monday, we left the house around 6 am, but I woke up at 5. Traffic was bad, so I wasn't able to stop by the apartment to catch some Zzzz's for a while. The whole afternoon, the words on the PowerPoint were floating in front of my eyes, and the lecturers' voices were almost lulling me to sleep. So is it any wonder that I prefer to stay here at the apartment with my crappy SmartBro connection just so I can get a decent sleep?

Anyway, back to my day.

Lex and I planned to meet up today since we haven't seen each other since he joined me, my cousin, nephews and a few family friends to Subic. I texted my friends with the hope that we could get together, but turns out they're all busy so it was just me and Lex.

We walked around TriNoma, then we decided to go to SM North. I wanted to go to Cyberzone. I absolutely love SM North's Cyberzone, it's the best. We ate a late lunch at Pizza Hut, where I ordered my favorite pizza - 5 Cheese with Mozerella stuffed crust. It's a cheezy goodness. We walked around after eating, and I ended up to what I call "the happiest place on earth" - the department store. I bought a new bag - couldn't resist. I'm weak, plus it was on sale, which added to my weakness. I was also going to buy the Ipanema Giselle Bundchen sandals I wanted, I was willing to overlook it's expensiveness (it's 1,590 pesos), but sadly, fate decided it wasn't for me. The size 5 was too fit, and the size 6 was too loose. We went back to TriNoma, where we walk aimlessly before going home.

It was nice to spend time with him again. ♥

I arrived at the apartment at half-past four. And around 5 pm, Tita Eilene and I walked to the Quezon Memorial Circle. It was my first time to pass by the underpass, and I can't believe how nice it was except for the crowd of people going to QCM, too). We walked around QCM, then we decided to exit the are. We never intended to stay for the street party, we just wanted to see the set up there. After satisfying our curiosity, we walked back home.

I had an amazing day, but I can't say the same for my legs and feet. My muscles are in agony. Too much walking in one day is not good.

the best thing about fighting is..

..when you make up.

Lex and I had a fight the other over something silly which blew up to huge proportions. We argued over text the whole night, and got nowhere. We both went to bed mad. The next day, things got worse. We resumed our heated argument and solved nothing. I admit, much of it was my fault, and I already apologized incessantly, but he wouldn't budge. Then he accepted my apology half-heartedly, and I told him not to bother accepting it if he can't accept it wholeheartedly. And I stopped texting him.

A whole day passed and neither of us texted one another - both of us can be very stubborn. Around 6 Pm or so, I finally gave up and texted him if he was still mad at me. We made up, partially. Then he told me to go outside our house. And he was there, holding out the free pouch he got from Pringles. I told him I wanted that pouch when he bought the Pringles, but I forgot to get it from him, then we fought, and well, I don't think he'll be happy if I asked for it in the middle of our fight.

So there he was. Other couples would probably use flowers or chocolates or some other grand gesture, but that was more than enough for me. Suffice to say, we made up.

Oh, how his kisses make me melt. ♥

on breaking up, and getting back together..

..after an agonizing 2 years.

Yes, Lex and I are back together. Again. We have this weird on-off relationship when we were together for more than 2 years before. Then we went "off" for a very long time (we'd usually break up then get back together after a few days, laughing over how silly we were, but not that last time). Then we went into this awkward, we-have-the-same-friends phase, where we would get together every semester break, Christmas break, and summer break, making it harder for the both of us to move the hell on.

So it's no wonder we were so hung up on each other that we'd have a hard time looking for other people and entering another relationship.

He tried getting back with me a lot of times over the course of 2 years - but he stopped it during the start of the 2nd year. I guess he figured he'd wait til I'm ready (if I ever became ready) than annoy me and push me further away (because believe me, I was like a bomb waiting to explode whenever he pestered me, or whenever he is mentioned by our friends). That's how bitter I am was. Note the word was.

You're guessing I'm not bitter anymore. Maybe I still am, but I don't let the past bother me anymore. I figured, why not let bygones be bygones? Hell, we were young and stupid then, maybe we still are, but not as young and stupid as before, and that counts for something, right?

I mentioned here that he mentioned the L-word again on New Year's Day (of all times), and completely took me off guard. Not that I didn't know it. I knew. I guess I always did. I just sort of shuffled it to an unconscious part of my brain (I could rant about psychobabble crap, but it would just be a waste of everyone's time).

After that fateful day, we got to talking on the phone every night, it was so like high school all over again, back when I'd still doodle his name over a piece of paper and dream of cute babies with eyes like his and curly hair. We'd also hang out, mostly with friends, but also the two of us. I finally got to the point (again, after 2 years) where I'm once again comfortable being alone with him.

I felt like I was falling for him again - not that I ever stopped loving him. I was on denial after we broke up, I guess it was time I finally faced the truth. It's also the reason why I never had any relationships after ours ended (not that boys were lining at my feet trying to get my attention, but whatever).

Ok, I'm rambling. So there. We're back together. I just hope we'd stop acting stupid this time. They say people change with time - I know we both did. I just don't know if we changed for the better or for worse. I guess we'll have have to take one day at a time and see where it'll take us.

I don't want another long-distance relationship, but with him, I have no choice over that matter. He's in Manila, studying. I'm in Tacloban. He can come home after he graduates this April (I think - I can't guess accurately because DLSU is tri-sem), but by that time I'll be in Cebu (hopefully) studying Medicine. But we're making it work (again) this time.

Whatever. Right now, I'm just happy being in .

resurfacing.

I thought I already buried those feelings long ago. So why are they coming back to haunt me now?

looking for something?
